It is important to remember that when choosing natural stone paving for your home garden or landscape project it is a personal choice. One must consider many factors to determine whether or not natural stone pavers will be suitable. Deciding factors such as the person’s individual design vision, aesthetic preferences and budget will all play a key part in the decision process.
When choosing natural paving stone, we believe that you are choosing a material that will give you life long durability and timeless elegance. Although natural stone pavers are considered more expensive than man made products like concrete, we believe natural stone will be the better investment in the long run. With care, natural stone slabs will age beautifully and require less maintenance over time.
Unlike concrete pavers, natural stone slabs are not prone to cracking as they are naturally porous, which means they have the natural ability to soak and hold water. In the event that a natural stone slab should be damaged they are easily replaced. Some man-made manufacturers may for many reasons stop producing certain brands, colours or sizes, leaving it more difficult to source a replacement tile or paver in the future.
Like all material types, some level of maintenance will be required to keep paving slabs clean and fresh. In some instances, your paving may benefit from a natural stone sealer that will help ease the cleaning process. In order to determine if your paving will benefit from a sealer please review our blog piece ‘To Seal or Not To Seal’ or contact our experienced team for advice.
